We are delighted to support the prestigious Lord’s Taverner’s annual Christmas Lunch held at Somerset County Cricket Ground in Taunton on 5 December – one of the most popular events in the area. Last year’s lunch was sold out in record time and raised an impressive £9,000.
Founded in 1950, the Lord’s Taverners has developed into a vibrant members charity, with over 5,000 members throughout the UK. It is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity dedicated to enhancing the prospects of disadvantaged and disabled young people giving them a “sporting chance” in life. The charity to date has donated an impressive £50 million plus with approximately £3 million currently spent each year across their charitable activities.
Stephen Walker, Ashfords Legal Director and Lord’s Taverners committee member, commented: “It has been an honour to support Lord’s Taverners in their endeavours. Earlier this year were delighted to be able to support a local special educational needs school with the purchase of a specially adapted mini bus – we plan to do the same again next year with the monies raised at this year’s lunch.”
Other committee members include, Tony Mason, Nicola Spurway, Rob Nicholson – Ashfords, Stuart Mathews – Ashfords, Nick Farrant – PKF Francis Clark, Ben Trickey – Summerfield Developments, Alan Swan – Peter Brett Associates, Derek Biss – Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Ryan Thomas – HSBC and Jason Rigby from Taunton Fabrications.
