Classic Strip Wax FAQs

What is classic strip wax?

Classic strip wax is a warm, soft wax that’s applied in a thin layer and removed with a waxing strip. It’s a traditional salon favourite, particularly for larger areas like the legs, back and arms. Outback Organics’ classic range includes crème-based waxes and honey-style formulas that are known for their strong grip on hair and gentle results on the skin.

How does classic strip wax differ from gel-based strip wax?

Classic waxes, like our Tea Tree and Honey Wax Tubs, have a creamier or more traditional honey-like texture, whereas gel-based strip waxes (such as our cartridge and coloured strip waxes) are more fluid and translucent. Classic waxes tend to offer slightly stronger adhesion and are preferred by some therapists for their familiarity and tactile feedback during application. They also tend to have more body, which some therapists find helpful for achieving precision in thinner applications.

What are the benefits of crème-based wax?

Crème wax offers a smooth, luxurious texture and is typically more moisturising than other formulas. It’s designed to glide easily onto the skin and form a strong grip on the hair without stripping the skin’s natural moisture. Our Priscilla Pink and Tea Tree Crème Wax tubs, for example, are ideal for therapists who want a reliable, soft wax with added skin conditioning benefits.

Who is Classic Strip Wax best suited for?

Classic strip wax is ideal for clients with normal skin types who are receiving treatments on large or less sensitive areas. It’s often used for full leg waxing, backs, arms and chests. While it can be used on a wide range of clients, therapists may prefer peelable wax for more sensitive zones such as the bikini area or face.

Are your classic waxes suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes, several of our classic waxes are formulated to be kind to the skin. The Tea Tree Crème Wax includes tea tree oil, known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, while our Priscilla Pink Crème Wax is designed to leave the skin feeling soft after treatment. That said, for extremely sensitive skin or clients with allergies, therapists may wish to consider peelable or hypoallergenic alternatives.

What is the consistency of classic wax when heated?

When heated to the correct temperature (typically between 54°C and 61°C), classic wax should have the consistency of single cream. It should flow smoothly from the spatula but still offer enough body to apply in a controlled, even layer. Always stir and test the wax before use to ensure it’s at the right working consistency and temperature.

What’s the difference between honey and crème wax?

Honey wax is generally stickier and more fluid in texture, mimicking the consistency of real honey. It offers strong adhesion and is effective on coarse or stubborn hair. Crème waxes are smoother, thicker and often enriched with skin-conditioning ingredients like castor oil or tea tree. Therapists may choose one over the other depending on their preferred technique, client skin type and the treatment area.

Can classic wax be used for intimate waxing?

We generally don’t recommend classic strip wax for intimate treatments. While technically possible, the experience is often less comfortable for the client compared to using a peelable wax. Peelable waxes offer greater flexibility, less skin drag and a gentler removal – making them a better option for intimate waxing/

Do I need a trade account to purchase classic wax?

Yes. All Outback Organics waxes, including our classic range, are for professional use only and require a trade account to purchase. This ensures they are used correctly and safely by trained beauty therapists. Trade accounts can be set up easily on our website and allow access to our full product range and professional pricing.
