Wax FAQs

What types of wax do Outback Organics offer?

Outback Organics offers four core types of professional wax: peelable wax, strip wax, cartridge wax and classic strip wax. Peelable waxes are strip-free and designed for sensitive and intimate areas. They shrink to the hair, not the skin and are removed without strips, offering minimal discomfort and excellent control. Strip wax is used with paper or fabric strips and is ideal for covering large areas quickly. Cartridge waxes are a practical option for high-throughput salons, allowing a fast and even application. Our classic strip waxes are warm crème or honey-stle formulas, suited to those who prefer a more traditional waxing method.

Which wax should I choose for intimate or sensitive areas?

For sensitive or intimate areas, our peelable waxes are the most suitable choice. These include Opal, Jade, True Blue, White, and Onyx – each formulated to grip the hair, not the skin, reducing irritation and improving client comfort. Opal and Onyx are especially effective for coarse or strongly rooted hair and are often recommended for bikini or male intimate waxing. Their fast-drying nature and low melting points also help reduce treatment time without compromising results.

Are your waxing products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes, the majority of our waxes are vegan, and all are cruelty-free. Many formulas are made without beeswax or animal-derived ingredients, such as our Opal, Jade, White, True Blue and Onyx Peelable waxes, along with our full strip wax range. Gold Peelable is the main exception, as it contains beeswax and is not suitable for vegan clients. We clearly indicate vegan status on every product page to make it easy to select suitable options for your treatment menu.

Are your waxes suitable for clients with allergies?

Some of our waxes are formulated specifically for clients who are prone to allergies. Opal Peelable, for instance, is hypoallergenic and free from colophony, a known skin sensitiser. We also offer fragrance-free options such as Gold Peelable and Gold Strip Wax. However, therapists should always carry out a patch test when treating clients with known sensitivities or skin conditions.

What is the difference between peelable and strip wax?

Peelable wax, also known as hot wax, is applied in a thin layer, allowed to set slightly, and then removed directly by hand – no strip required. It’s ideal for smaller, more delicate areas like the face, underarms and intimate zones. Strip wax, by contrast, stays soft on the skin and requires a paper or fabric strip for removal. It’s best used on larger areas such as legs, backs or chests, where speed and coverage are important.

What are the benefits of using wax cartridges?

Wax cartridges offer fast, efficient application, making them ideal for busy salons. Each cartridge has a fixed head that distributes the wax evenly over the skin, helping reduce mess and treatment time. They’re well suited to large areas like legs and arms, and many therapists use them for ‘speed waxing’ techniques. Our cartridge waxes share the same high-performance formulas as our strip waxes, and include options like True Blue, Jade, and Tea Tree Crème.

Are your waxes easy to work with?

Yes. All of our waxes are formulated for smooth application and clean removal. Peelable waxes like Opal and True Blue are designed with advanced polymer technology for excellent fluidity and control. Strip and cartridge waxes have a gel-like texture that glides easily and leaves minimal residue on the skin. Most formulas have a low melting point, making them safer and more comfortable for the client, while also saving therapists time during treatments.

How long does the hair need to be for an intimate wax?

Hair should be at least 1cm long, or about 2–3 weeks of growth since the last shave or wax. This ensures the wax grips the hair properly for clean removal.

How long should an intimate wax take?

Booking time: 40 minutes

Treatment time: 30 minutes

How often does a client need to rebook for an intimate wax?

Clients should rebook every 3–4 weeks. This allows enough time for hair to grow to the ideal length and helps maintain consistent, smoother results.

Do your waxes have added fragrance?

We offer both fragranced and fragrance-free options across all formats. For example, our White Peelable contains calming lavender, Jade includes eucalyptus, and Onyx has citrus and woody notes. Gold Peelable and Gold Strip Wax, on the other hand, are completely fragrance-free and ideal for clients with scent sensitivities. You can find full details of each wax’s fragrance in its product description.

Can I buy your waxes without a trade account?

No. Our waxes are professional-grade and available exclusively to trade account holders. This ensures they are used by trained beauty therapists who understand how to apply them safely and effectively. If you’re a salon owner or professional therapist, you can register for a trade account through our website to access the full wax range.

Can you wax a pregnant client?

Había recommends not to wax within the first trimester. After this period, up until the due date, it is safe to wax as long as the client is well and not experiencing symptoms that indicate that it is not conducive to their safety.

Take into consideration:

  • The heightened sensitivity during pregnancy – work in smaller patches and ensure your stretch/ support of the skin is thorough.
  • Never lie the client flat on their back or front, keep them at a 45-degree angle and allow them to lie on their side in order to wax the backs of the legs.
  • Make sure you book more time out for a pregnant client to allow for comfortable posturing.

Can I wax a client who has her period? What precautions should I take?

We recommend that your clients use a Mooncup for hygiene and comfort. Alternatively, a tampon will need to be used, and the string will need to be hidden to avoid any contact with the wax.

How do I deal with erections with a male intimate wax client?

You will encounter erections. It is a sensitive area, and the client will be feeling nervous and anxious, especially if this is a new experience for them. The erections could also reappear intermittently during the course of the treatment.

The best course of action is to ignore it and perhaps move to a different area until it subsides accordingly. It is also reassuring for the client if you simply acknowledge and assure them that this is normal and you can continue your treatment professionally.

If your safety is compromised at any stage and the client is, in fact, acting inappropriately, please leave your treatment room and alert a team member immediately.

Are there any additional considerations your clients need to be aware of before having a waxing service?

Do not use any acid products on the areas for at least 3 days before the wax treatment. Do not use hair removal creams or shave for 2 weeks before your wax treatment. Please shower before your wax treatment. Wipes will be provided for your own use to cleanse your intimate area before your treatment.
